Both recycling and clean energy will be featured at WENERGY Expo 2024
The recycling sector, which showed significant growth last year, is set to gather at the 2nd We-Cycle Environmental and Recycling Technologies Fair, to be held from May 9 to 11. Organized simultaneously with the Wenergy Clean Energy Technologies Fair at *fuarizmir*, We-Cycle will showcase Turkey’s achievements in this field to local and international visitors. Şener Gençer, Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Plastic Industrialists Association (EGEPLASDER), one of the institutional supporters of the fair, highlighted the unexpectedly high interest in last year’s inaugural event. Noting that this year’s co-hosting of the fair alongside Wenergy as a twin event would likely increase interest, Gençer emphasized that many EGEPLASDER member companies would also participate. He underlined İzmir’s critical role as one of the key hubs of the Turkish plastics industry, stating, "Plastic production must be considered alongside the recycling of plastic waste at its source. To leave future generations a livable environment, it is essential to prevent waste generation in cities, reduce it, and collect waste separately at its source for recycling." Gençer also pointed out that the Turkish recycling sector, which has demonstrated rapid growth in recent years, is one of the keys to sustainable development and energy efficiency. He stressed the importance of fostering a culture that prevents unnecessary resource consumption and promotes energy savings, adding that the We-Cycle Fair carries a crucial role in achieving these goals.
