Signatures are being signed in İzmir, the capital of clean energy

The WE-CYCLE - Environmental and Recycling Technologies Fair, hosted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, is set to open its doors for the second time at *fuarizmir* from May 9 to 11, 2023. Coordinated by the Ministry of Trade and organized by the Aegean Exporters' Associations (EİB), a Buyer Delegation Program will be held simultaneously with the "WeCycle - Environmental and Recycling Technologies Fair" and the "WENERGY - Clean Energy Technologies Fair and Conference." Jak Eskinazi, the Coordinator Chairperson of the Aegean Exporters' Associations, emphasized the potential of Turkey in clean energy, stating, "Turkey has enough capacity to meet its clean energy needs six times over. Izmir is a leader in both solar and wind energy. Turkey exports approximately $1.5 billion worth of clean energy equipment annually. However, there is no specific Customs Tariff Statistics Position (GTIP) classification for recording exports of machinery, equipment, components, and parts produced by companies operating in the clean energy sector. Last year, we initiated efforts to establish the Clean Energy Equipment and Services Exporters' Association within EİB. The sector is enthusiastic about this, and we are receiving significant public support." Eskinazi highlighted the need for Turkey to become a country recognized for recycling and clean energy, adding, "We are analyzing the products and services of 309 companies exporting clean energy equipment, 200 of which are based in Izmir. Moving forward, every new energy plant will be designed with 50% solar energy and 25% wind energy. As EİB, we have extensive experience in sustainability. We provide our members with various tools to align with the EU Green Deal, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and other sustainability-related initiatives. This year, we will bring together Turkish companies with importers from six countries, including the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Mauritania, Mali, and Serbia. Thirteen companies from these countries will meet with Turkish exporters in Izmir as part of the Buyer Delegation Program. Through B2B meetings scheduled for May 9, we aim to help companies in these sectors access new markets and further increase their exports. Since 70% of carbon emissions are attributed to energy, every sector must play a role in this transformation."
