Two fairs will be held in İzmir, the capital of renewable and clean energy

Izmir is hosting two major events this year: the inaugural *Wenergy Clean Energy Technologies Fair and Congress* and the second *We-Cycle Environment and Recycling Technologies Fair*, both of which have opened their doors to visitors. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer remarked, “Change is in our hands. We’ve initiated transformation right here. In Izmir, we are transforming life through collective action.” Speaking at the event, Mayor Soyer emphasized, “Nature doesn’t produce waste; there is no such thing as waste in nature. Humans are the only species producing garbage. This simple fact tells us that transformation must start in our minds and thoughts. While nature’s resources are finite, humans perceive their needs as limitless. This anthropocentric mindset is nearing its end. If we want to build a sustainable future, we must define the harmony between ecology and economy.” Mayor Soyer highlighted the significance of the fairs, stating, “These fairs underscore the urgent need for transformation—right now, without delay. They have reached this stage through the dedication and efforts of many institutions that believe in the coexistence of economy and ecology. The fair features around twenty product groups, including water treatment, waste gas, green energy, recycling technologies, and services for the energy sector. Participants from 12 different cities and visitors from 49 countries, ranging from India to the United States, are attending.” Youth and Sports Minister Mehmet Kasapoğlu noted, “Clean energy is an area that needs to be expanded. We all understand the value of clean energy technologies and the significance of new projects. Both Wenergy and We-Cycle fairs are invaluable for our country. I hope these efforts will continue for many years and thank everyone involved.” Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger added, “Reducing waste and preventing overconsumption significantly contribute to the economy of nations. I wish these fairs great success.” Mayor Tunç Soyer elaborated on the *İzDönüşüm Project*, saying, “With this initiative by İzDoğa and our Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, we are achieving three major goals: protecting nature, strengthening the local economy, and employing street collectors under healthier working conditions. We are sorting waste at its source, currently implementing this process in eight districts, covering one-third of Izmir's population. I thank all İzmir residents for their participation and commitment.” Representatives from various institutions expressed their support and appreciation. Ender Yorgancılar, Chairman of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry, thanked Mayor Soyer for his vision and success. Selami Özpoyraz, President of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the effort and determination required to establish and sustain fairs. Ediz Gizlier, International and Energy Production Sales Manager for Siemens Electrification and Automation, said, “As Siemens Turkey, we are delighted to participate in this fair in our beloved Izmir.” Nuray Eyigele İşleyen, General Manager of EFOR Fairs, and Ümit Vural, Chairman of the Board of BİFAŞ, also expressed gratitude to all contributors. The *Wenergy Clean Energy Technologies Fair and Congress* is hosted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in partnership with İZFAŞ, BİFAŞ, and EFOR Fairs.
